How was your weekend?

Well,I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!I wish I could say that ours was filled with warm weather,BBQ,&running around playing in the kiddie pool.Instead we had no BBQ,cold weather,a trip to the ER,& our boy Dominic with a broken leg!

Well, it was Sunday around 5pm, dinner had been eaten and it was time for a little play in the house before baths.David and I were both in the office while the kids where watching TV and playing with their toys in the living room.We heard a sound and then we could hear Dominic crying. We rush in to check on him and he was holding his leg. There was no redness, swelling,or sign of an injury, but he was crying in pain.David assessed his leg and notice he wouldn't put any weight on it(I have to tell you, that I LOVE the fact that I am married to a Paramedic, just for this reason). We decided that he needed to go to the ER.David took buddy to the UCD ER.When he got there luckily there was not much of a wait. They took x-rays, and found out he has an lower fracture of the Tibia bone down by the ankle.Luckily, he didn't damage his growth plate.Dominic was a trooper,he only cried when they would touch it, and once he got a little Motrin on board he was fine. They put him in cast from his thigh to his toes and he will have to wear it for about 6 weeks. One doctor said for 4 weeks but we will see, whatever it takes to make it mend right.
While he was at the hospital I asked Sam what he was doing, and she says he was standing on his little dump truck.I think he was trying to ride it like a skate board and it just took off.Lately, he has become quite the little dare devil, I have caught him trying to stand on toys before and standing on our coffee table.I have never had this problem with Sam, I guess it comes with the territory of having a boy!
Today, was our first day with him in his cast. All I can say is that it is going to be a LONG 6 weeks for ALL of us.I feel like I have a 30lb 8month old.He can't walk in his cast,so we have to pack him around. We just feel so bad for our little buddy,he wanted to go outside and ride his bike so badly today.I have also told Sam that she is not going to be able to have their kiddie pool out until the cast comes off.I just think it would be so cruel to him, because he doesn't understand(I think I will have to sneak her over to Grandma "D" house with David for a swim or two).

Well, on a happier note Sam, finished her T-Ball last week and moves on to soccer in 2 weeks. She got her trophy, which she loves.I think sometimes that is why she plays is just for that shinny trophy, she is so proud of them, and we are proud of her.We actually signed her up for 2 soccer teams this year. The first one through the CSD goes from June til August, and David will be the assistant coach. The 2ND is EGYSL, its a league and she will be on a all girls team with girls from our neighborhood. It runs for from August through October.I can't believe I just signed away 4 months of Saturday, but oh well, its good for all of us and we enjoy it!

Oh, one more thing.Last month David and I decided to give Dominic his big boy room.I have to give a big shout out to my hubby for going the distance for me.When we first talk about doing it, we said we were just going to get new bedding and furniture and leave his room blue.Well, I like to coordinate things so I said "I want to do some red in his room", "oh and since we are at it can we add a little chair rail".Well, my honey & I came up with a design and David got his room all done in 2 days!I love how it turned out and more importantly so does Dominic! He stayed over at my parents house so it would be a surprise, and it was!His reaction was "WOW"&"Cool"!He loves fire engines, so now he can sleep with them!

Oh, and some of the walls look bare, but these are old photos. We still have a light, and a shelf coming, and David has something special planned for above his bed.

Poor Dominic! This is just the worst time of year to break anything and have to wear a cast. It's amazing how easily bones break sometimes.

Way to go Sam. She is sooo cute. She looks like she really enjoys those sports. I'm sure she is really good at them. We'll have to watch a game while we are there in California in July.

Dominic's room looks awesome! I love the red. Your house always looks like a model home. I should have you come decorate my kids' rooms.

Ouch! Poor little guy... and poor you! You're going to get a back ache for sure! That's a huge cast! Sam's picture with her trophy is adorable. I can't wait to take our little guy to soccer games, I love watching kids play sports. Dominic's room looks incredible! You guys did such a good job, I'm impressed.

Yikes...looks like your Memorial weekend was worse than ours. Poor Dominic. At least he has an adorable room to rest in!

Great job Sam! She looks really cute in those pictures with her trophy. She's going to be really good at sports.

I feel so bad for buddy. That must have hurt terribly. What a rotten time to get a cast, right at the beginning of summer! How do you get him upstairs? Sam will definitely have to come swimming.
Love Dominic's room! I look forward to seeing it on Sam's Birthday.

Yikes...poor little guy! That cast is huge-- the thought of it makes me want to itch my legs. How do you bathe him? You guys are going to get a work out.
My only time in the E.R. with my kids was for Kaden at age 2-3. He broke his arm and a couple months later he had to get stitches in his face. I've been lucky since (knock on wood.)
Dominic's room is adorable. I love the color and the bedding!
Sam is going to be a star athlete-- I can already see it!
